Description
What can a life in the forge, industry, enterprise, technology, Morocco and golf teach us about the way a person learns to become responsible for their own path?
In Rebuilding the Republic, Michel Prieu traces the experiences that formed his character and gradually led him to question inherited models of authority, education and performance. Childhood near the Pyrenees, the discipline of metalworking, engineering, industrial transformation, robotics and the creation of companies all become stages in a single enquiry: how can knowledge improve human life without taking away individual freedom and responsibility?
Golf enters this journey late, yet changes its direction. Beginning at nearly forty, Michel Prieu discovers that technical instruction alone cannot explain precision, decision or consistency. The player must observe a real situation, select a target, imagine a trajectory, engage the body and accept the result. The GAME becomes a school of self-knowledge and a new way of understanding action.
This first volume is both personal and civic. It examines France, work, enterprise, institutions and the need to rebuild confidence in the person. It does not offer a political programme or a universal human model. It presents the path of a man who learnt to connect disciplines that were usually kept apart and who came to believe that a republic is strengthened when people learn to think, choose and evolve for themselves.
Rebuilding the Republic establishes the human and professional origins of GE2M. It prepares the journeys of Volume Two and the exploration of the player’s inner world in Volume Three. Above all, it invites the reader to ask a first decisive question: what have I received, and what am I now prepared to create with it?
