Description
The Player’s Inner World
Golf Entre Deux Mondes
The Player’s Inner World completes the movement of the Golf Entre Deux Mondes trilogy. After the life journey of Volume One and the international and technical enquiry of Volume Two, this third volume turns towards the human being who creates the shot.
Golf appears simple: a stationary ball, a target and a club. Yet every action emerges from a complex relationship between perception, memory, emotion, intention, attention, posture, movement and environment. Michel Prieu explores how the body receives information, how the brain learns through experience and correction, how the autonomic nervous system responds to pressure and how breathing can help the player regulate physiological activation.
The book examines stress, attention, meditation, motor imagery, virtual preparation, flow and hypnosis. It insists upon an essential distinction: imagination can prepare action, but it does not replace knowledge, practice or the laws of physics. Likewise, the language of energy, vibration or quantum theory must not be confused with established measurements when it is used philosophically or symbolically. Scientific knowledge, developing hypotheses, coaching methods and personal experience are brought into dialogue while retaining their different levels of validation.
Positive psychology provides a practical direction. The aim is not to suppress what is negative. Fear, doubt, anger, fatigue, frustration and failure contain information. The player learns to acknowledge them without allowing them to decide the next shot. Mastery becomes the capacity to return to breathing, target, intention and present commitment.
These ideas are applied throughout the seven situations of GE2M, from putting to driving, and through five connected pillars: breathing; nutrition and hydration; concentration; visualisation; and grounding. The player develops balance, accuracy and consistency while learning to create a personal strategy and evaluate progress through observation and measurement.
The final chapters turn towards education and organisation. They present a swing for each player, a GAME accessible to everyone, the foundations of GE2M International Golf Academy, the education of teachers and a different form of support for professional players and their teams. The professional remains the creator of the shot; the coach, instructor, caddie and specialists prepare the conditions in which responsibility can be exercised.
The Player’s Inner World is therefore both an exploration and an opening. It invites readers to test, measure and refine the method, to help young people discover golf earlier and to pursue performance without reducing the person to a score. Its final message is one of daily progress: know yourself more clearly, act more freely and allow the GAME to develop the SELF.
