Description
The Pathways of Play
Why do different countries produce different sporting cultures, learning methods and champions? Michel Prieu travelled to observe not only how golf is taught, but how societies shape the people who play it.
From Australia to Spain, the United States, Japan, South Korea and New Zealand, The Pathways of Play examines the influence of family, school, competition, technology, discipline, environment and national history. These journeys reveal that progress never depends on technique alone. A player is formed by relationships, opportunities, expectations and the freedom to experiment.
The book then brings together the practical heart of GE2M. Three qualities guide development: balance, accuracy and consistency. Seven progressive playing situations lead from putting to driving. Five pillars support preparation and action: breathing, nutrition and hydration, concentration, visualisation and grounding. The player learns to connect these elements rather than work on each one in isolation.
The swing is not rejected, nor is it imposed as a model to be copied. It becomes the personal movement through which a player responds to a chosen target and a real situation. Putting introduces direction and distance. Chipping and approach play add flight and roll. Iron play, bunkers, fairway woods and driving progressively increase complexity and power without abandoning precision.
Written for young players, adults, teachers, amateurs and professionals, The Pathways of Play offers a structured route towards autonomy. It explains how to practise, observe dispersion, understand personal distances and use the Golf Progress Calculator without allowing data to replace judgement. The result is a technical book about the GAME, but also a book about the SELF who learns through it.
